Kanoko (Hitta) Pattern Koshihimo (Waist Cord) — Women's, Polyester
The kanoko pattern is a traditional Japanese motif named for its resemblance to the white spots on a deer's back. The technique used to create it by hand, tying off tiny sections of fabric one by one before dyeing, is known as kanoko shibori. It was so labor-intensive that it was once considered a luxury item during the Edo period, and it has long been used for celebratory attire such as furisode kimono and obiage.
In Shinto tradition, deer are regarded as sacred messengers of the gods, and the kanoko pattern is also said to carry wishes for longevity and prosperity.
This women's waist cord features that same auspicious kanoko pattern. It can be worn with kimono as well as yukata. Made of easy-care polyester, it's a piece you can reach for whether you're heading to practice or dressing up for a celebration.
