Welcome to Kyoto Kimono Kohbou

Kyoto Kimono Kohbou is an online store run by Tahara Ichi Co., Ltd., a company that has long been involved in tailoring and wholesaling kimono in Kyoto. Originally a kimono wholesaler, we began selling online in 2006, wanting to hear directly from the people who actually wear our kimono.

Our physical shop is about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station on the subway, and you're welcome to shop either online or in person. We specialize in made-to-order kimono, tailoring each piece as closely as possible to the customer's own measurements, whether you need a larger size or a petite fit.

This shop may be a good fit if you...

  • Have trouble finding ready-made kimono in your size and are looking for a custom-tailored one
  • Need a kimono for Kyudo (archery), Iaido, or the tea ceremony → Kyudo / Tea Ceremony / Iaido
  • Are looking for a kimono in a larger or smaller size → Larger Sizes
  • Want a washable kimono that's easy to wear for everyday use

How to Order (4 Steps)

  1. Choose a product: Browse by category or size
  2. Tailoring and sizing: If you'd like a custom order, let us know your measurements and requests in the comment field, or feel free to ask us on LINE
  3. Payment: Pay by credit card, bank transfer, and other available methods
  4. Tailoring and shipping: We tailor your order as needed and ship it to you

Not Sure About Sizing?

If this is your first time ordering a custom-tailored kimono, choosing the right size can feel daunting. The pages below explain how to take your own measurements and what to consider when ordering — please have a look before placing your order.

If you're still unsure, just tell us your measurements and what you'll be using the kimono for on LINE, and we'll recommend a size for you.
