Kimono with long sleeves (Kimono to wear with hakama)

About Two-Shaku Sleeve Kimonos

Two-shaku sleeve kimonos, commonly worn at graduation ceremonies,

are kimonos tailored with sleeves measuring two shaku—approximately 76 cm

(using the whale-bone ruler commonly used in the kimono industry, where one shaku = 37.8 cm).

Originally, graduates attended ceremonies in hakama attire,

wearing a furisode kimono with hakama.

However, the kimono style was simplified to the two-shaku sleeve kimono (small furisode kimono)

and is now used for graduation ceremonies.
