漁に使う網を棒に吊るし、三角錐状に干した姿を文様化したもので、波や葦、千鳥〈ちどり〉などと共に海辺の風景の中に取り入れたものが多くあります。江戸時代の頃から、友禅染の絵柄として、また、沖縄の紅型〈ﾋﾞﾝｶﾞﾀ〉の模様にも用いられます。

The pattern depicts fishing nets hung on poles and dried in a triangular cone shape. It is often incorporated into coastal scenes alongside waves, reeds, and plovers. Since the Edo period, it has been used as a motif in Yuzen dyeing and also appears in Okinawan Bingata patterns.
